“In the arithmetic of love, one plus one equals everything, and two minus one equals nothing.” – Mignon McLaughlin

If you’ve ever been a part of a relationship that didn’t end on your terms I don’t have to explain this quote to you. When you find someone that makes you feel like the most interesting, fun, attractive, powerful couple in the room, that feeling is like a drug. You’re unstoppable, you’re impossibly happy, as you should be.

But when that ends, especially when it’s taken from you, it’s like your existence has been wiped clean. You forget who you are, how you’re supposed to act, what you enjoyed doing…

If you’ve been there, or are currently there, don’t be too hard on yourself. We are human, we are meant to love and be loved. And it may be cliche but it doesn’t make it any less true – love yourself first. Be someone you love, be someone you admire. Screw the math.
